Sangla Valley

The first destination of my first solo trip to Spiti Valley in 2017 was the beautiful Sangla Valley. I was tired after a long 21 hours of bus journey from Delhi-to-Sangla but the tiredness was completely gone away on reaching the beautiful Sangla Valley, surrounded by mountains. I was greeted with a breathtaking view.

Next morning after having a good sleep and a proper breakfast at “Shruti Guest House” where I was staying. I went to visit my first destination “Bering Nag Temple”, unfortunately it was closed. The temple is a short walk down from the main market passing through a village with traditional wooden houses along with small backyard apple gardens. The surrounding of the temple was very peaceful with beautiful premises.

After visiting the temple we (a solo traveler, I met at Sangla) went for a stroll on the other side of the Baspa river in the meadows of Sangla valley. The surrounding was so beautiful that we sat by the river side for more than an hour. The sound of the flowing river and of the air in the mountains was very relaxing . Later we went to see a trout fishing farm. On the way we met some locals who offered us some water and they were very welcoming

Kamru Village and Fort

We decided to have our lunch at a restaurant in the main market of Sangla valley. It was a proper meal as we have to kind of climb steep staircases of “Kamru Village” to reach the Kamru fort.
The fort was considered to be built in the 15th century by Lord Badrinath Ji and it has 5 stories each with many deities. Visitors are not allowed to visit the inside premises of the fort. One can enter the premises only if he/she is having a Kinnauri traditional cap otherwise the caretaker will give you a cap in case one don’t have it.
Kamru fort is for people seeking spiritual peace. The moment you reach the fort gate you’ll the calmness and peacefulness, that’s the beauty of this place. Kamru fort is a pure bliss with the fantabulous view of Sangla Valley.

In the evening just before dark the rain started while we were heading back to Sangla though it was a kind of shower not heavy rains but it did make the valley more beautiful with rainbow in the backyard. It was a happy ending to the journey of “Sangla Valley”
